I know how lonely it can feel when your child is struggling with maths and you’re not sure why, or what to do about it. You don’t need to work this out on your own. Alongside the advice in my Facebook page: Alice Earnshaw Dyscalculia Support, the free resources in my Dyscalculia Support for Parents UK Facebook group and the Safety in Numbers podcast, I offer the following ways for parents and caregivers to get more direct support.
Parent programme
A live, online programme for parents of children with dyscalculia or other maths difficulties, bringing together the things parents have told me they need most: understanding what’s actually going on for your child, knowing how to work with school rather than against it, and finding practical ways to support learning and confidence at home.
This is currently in development, but will run as a live, online cohort for eight weeks, so you’re learning alongside other parents who understand exactly what you’re facing, not working through a course alone.
If you’d like to be one of the first to hear when registration opens, join the waitlist below and I’ll keep you updated as it takes shape.

Individual coaching for parents and caregivers
Sometimes what you need isn’t a course, it’s a focused, action-orientated conversation. One-to-one (or one-to-two) coaching gives you dedicated time to think through your child’s specific situation with someone who understands maths difficulties and dyscalculia, and who can help you work out what to do next.
This is a conversation between us, adult to adult, online or on the phone. Your child is not part of the session and so we will meet when they will not disturb us. The aim is for you to leave with more clarity and planned actions, not for your child to be assessed, observed or tutored.
Coaching can focus on whatever you’re facing right now. Some examples include:
You don’t need to know exactly what you want to talk about before booking. Tell me a little about what’s going on, and we’ll work out together where to start.
- Making sense of what’s happening: Understanding why your child is struggling, and whether what you’re seeing points towards dyscalculia or something else.
- Preparing for school conversations: Working out what to ask for, how to put it into words and what reasonable support might look like, before a meeting with school.
- Supporting at home without conflict: Finding ways to help with maths homework or daily life skills that don’t end in tears, on either side.
- The emotional weight of it all: Space to talk about how exhausting and worrying this can be, and how to look after yourself while you’re supporting your child.
- Planning for what’s ahead: Thinking ahead to exams, access arrangements or life beyond school, before you’re in the middle of it.

Note: If you are wanting to understand your child’s dyscalculia report in greater detail, your first port-of-call should always be the author of the report. I am unable to judge the quality or content of a report.
“… I also wanted to say how much I enjoyed our conversation. It was so refreshing to speak at length about the struggles many children are experiencing in school, particularly with maths. I found your insights both inspirational and reassuring.
It is rare to speak with someone who is so knowledgeable, yet who genuinely seems to see children for who they are and understand their individual needs. Our conversation has given me a great deal to think about and has reinforced my confidence in moving forward.”
