Welcome to AEDDS! Finding the right support for yourself, your child, or your organisation is so important, and I’m glad you’re here.
My journey in education started in New Zealand, where I taught in primary and middle schools before moving to London. Later, I trained teachers in Lancashire and Cumbria at St Martin’s College/University of Cumbria. Along the way, I earned my MA in Educational Research from Lancaster University and a PhD in Mathematics Education from Warwick University.

When my children were young, I worked as a freelance education consultant, focusing on curriculum development both in the UK and internationally. As they grew older, I returned to the classroom as an Assistant Head Teacher at Moorside Primary School, Lancaster. It was there that I met children struggling with maths in ways I couldn’t initially explain – this sparked my deep interest in dyscalculia. Over the next few years, I completed postgraduate courses in dyscalculia and dyslexia at Edge Hill University, passing both with distinction.
Now, I’m back in freelance education consultancy, with a strong focus on supporting children and adults with difficulties in English and maths. When I’m not carrying out screenings, assessments of need and diagnostic assessments, I work closely with the NNW Maths Hub, helping schools enhance their maths teaching. I also lead professional development sessions and conference presentations to raise awareness of dyslexia and dyscalculia among educators and workplaces.
I’m passionate about making a difference, whether through research, professional development or training, or directly supporting individuals with difficulties and their families. If you’d like to learn more, feel free to contact me!
