Terms and Conditions

Terms and Conditions

1.1 Screening and Assessment

  • A recent eye examination (within one year) is required before booking an assessment. Please ensure this has been completed before scheduling.

  • Any prescribed glasses or contact lenses must be worn during the assessment. If a coloured overlay is used, it must be brought to the assessment.

  • For child assessments, the client must provide an emergency contact number where they can be reached at all times during the session.

  • A diagnostic assessment includes a full battery of psychometric tests, with a full diagnostic report provided within ten working days of the final assessment date.

  • If there is insufficient evidence of dyslexia or dyscalculia, a full diagnostic report will still be provided, outlining strengths, challenges, and recommendations. Further assessments by specialists may be recommended, which could incur additional costs.

  • A screening includes a range of tests based on concerns raised by the parent or school. The report will indicate whether dyslexia or dyscalculia is present and if a full diagnostic assessment is advised, along with recommendations. A screening report is provided within ten working days of the screening date.

1.2. Cancellation of Screening/Assessment

  • If an individual is unwell, the assessment will need to be rescheduled. The new date will depend on availability and may result in a longer wait.

  • In exceptional circumstances, the assessor may need to reschedule with no prior notice. No fees will be incurred, and a new date will be agreed upon.

  • If a mutually convenient date cannot be arranged, a full refund will be issued.

  • Cancellations made more than seven days before the assessment will result in a refund of half the deposit, and the remaining 50% fee will not be collected.

  • Cancellations made less than seven days before the assessment will not be refunded.

1.3. Fees for Screening/Assessment

  • Current fees are listed on the AEDDS website.

  • A 50% deposit and submission of all required documentation are required to secure a booking.

  • The remaining balance is due no later than seven days before the assessment date.

  • Assessments will not be conducted unless full payment has been received.

  • Payments are accepted via BACS only.

1.4. Subsidised Assessments

  • For every 15 diagnostic assessments completed, AEDDS sponsors one child at a significantly reduced rate. Eligibility requires:

    • Prior screening by AEDDS at their school

    • Nomination by their school

    • Demonstrated financial need as determined by the school

2.1 Specialist Teaching

  • Students must bring required materials, including glasses, to each lesson.

  • Lessons are typically scheduled once per week but may occur twice depending on need.

  • Specialist teaching takes place at AEDDS’s premises or at the student’s school/workplace under prior arrangement.

  • Clients must arrange lesson timings and a suitable working space with their school/workplace. AEDDS does not facilitate these arrangements.

  • Teaching dates are set before each half-term.

  • Lessons are tailored based on a student’s needs assessment and follow a research-backed structure. They are multi-sensory and highly targeted, differing from traditional school approaches.

  • Schools, workplaces, or parents may not dictate lesson content. Lessons may work at a level significantly below age-related expectations and will target specific gaps and difficulties.

  • Measurable progress depends on the student’s ability and commitment to daily practice (5-10 minutes per day). Consistent failure to complete practice tasks may result in lessons being terminated.

  • Students must not attend lessons if they are unwell. Please contact AEDDS for guidance if unsure.

2.2 Cancellation of Specialist Teaching

  • If a lesson is cancelled more than one week in advance, no fee is charged, and the amount is deducted from the next invoice.

  • Cancellations made more than eight hours before the lesson result in a 50% charge, deducted from the next invoice.

  • Cancellations within eight hours or no-shows (including for reasons beyond the student’s control) are fully charged.

  • If a student terminates their contract, two weeks’ notice must be provided before the next term. Prepaid fees will be refunded in full.

  • In exceptional circumstances, AEDDS may cancel a lesson without prior notice. The student may choose a full refund or a fee deduction from the next invoice.

  • Alternative dates will not be offered for cancelled lessons.

2.3 Fees for Specialist Teaching

  • Current fees are listed on the AEDDS website.

  • Payment must be made before the first lesson of each half-term.

  • Payments are accepted via BACS only.

3.1 Professional Development

  • Schools/workplaces may receive pre-session materials or resource lists, with adequate time for preparation.

  • Schools/workplaces may invite additional institutions to participate, but AEDDS must be informed prior to finalising numbers, dates and fees.

3.2 Fees and Payment for Professional Development

  • Schools/workplaces will be invoiced at the end of the agreed service.

  • Full payment is due within 30 days of invoice issuance.

  • Payments are accepted via BACS only.

3.3 Cancellation of School/Workplace Services

  • If a school/workplace cancels a service, no fees are incurred.

  • If AEDDS must reschedule in exceptional circumstances, no fees are incurred, and a new date will be arranged.

4 Insurance

  • The assessor is responsible for maintaining insurance, statutory declarations, and tax obligations.
